Throughout her tenure at William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich, Connecticut, Dr. Gail Weingast has steered her department to prominence, solidifying its status as one of the nation’s premier radiological facilities. Spanning more than four decades, her career has been a testament to the profound significance of every facet of her educational and professional journey in shaping her into the esteemed physician she is today.
The realization that Dr. Weingast’s destiny lay in medicine wasn’t always evident. Commencing her studies at Jackson College, Tufts University, in Medford, Massachusetts, she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish. Yet, the call to medicine soon beckoned, leading her to Boston University School of Medicine, where she earned her MD degree in 1976, assuming the title of Dr. Gail Weingast, MD. From that point forward, her path was unequivocally clear.
